[postlink]http://beyondfilms.blogspot.com/2008/06/pride-can-kill-thousands-of-lives.html[/postlink] Think, more than 78,000 were killed in Myanmar's cyclone and there is still 55,000 missing. And then, the Myanmar generals themselves don't want HELP especially from the U.S. and the United Nation just because of pride!
I could not stop my mouth telling all fuck up words and shits in the universe after I read such reports the vessels of U.S carrying tons of foods, medicine and other goods were ordered by the Myanmar generals to go back to their base for they don't need their help anymore while thousands of cyclone victims shouting at the wharf for that tons of help while others were dying (some were already dead because of hunger and sickness.

[postlink]http://beyondfilms.blogspot.com/2008/04/meet-stupid-spartans.html[/postlink] The film promotes stupidity I would say. I was trying to mind-set mine to a film which aims to make people laugh but it did not meet the objective but it rather devalues. Aside from the obvious props with low cost production, the plot seems to be predictable because they copy the almost the plot of the 300 adding less spices to make it laughable. Comedy film like 40 year old virgin, jackie chan's action-comedy films really suck and made the crowd laugh out loud. Why are the producers produce such stupid films with no ethics? They are not useful for the modern films. It is deserving to be trashed! If you want to understand what am I saying here just watch the movie and be frustrated.

[postlink]http://beyondfilms.blogspot.com/2008/04/after-10000-bc.html[/postlink] This is another Roland Emmrich's successful film. 10,000 BC is a prehistoric epic which the filmmakers are trying to create characters and environment happened ten thousand years before the birth of Christ. Mammoth hunter D'Leh (Steven Strait), a member of a hunter-gatherer tribe living in 10,000 B.C., travels through unknown lands on a quest to rescue his people from extinction.
Leading an army, D'Leh uncovers a now lost civilization while in pursuit of a warlord who kidnapped his love, Evolet (Camilla Belle). D'Leh and his army come face-to-face with a saber-toothed tiger, woolly mammoth, and terror birds in the journey to save his people. I also like the twist when D'Leh realized that not only Evolet, his lover, will be freed but also the people in that lost city where slavery and idolatry exist. I thought the film is all about the Mammoth and the hunters but the mammoths are actually the saviors of D'Leh's mission. You really love this film. Even if so fictional but you can see and feel the real meaning of sacrifice in love and how to sacrifice just to set aside that love for another mission. What are you waiting for? Go...

[postlink]http://beyondfilms.blogspot.com/2008/04/loving-water-horse.html[/postlink] Ever since the cinema begun, I don't like cartoon-like films. It does not entice me to watch it on theatre. But this time, I was corrected by my own judgement. My instructor, Katrina Angela Posadas invited the rest of the MassCom students to watch for it may somehow helps us to remove stress and refresh our "windang" minds because of the consecutive strenuous productions. Anyway, the films screenplay is not that big. It is a story of friendship, courage and surrender of pride. The plot is not that impressive because I have seen films before creatively done by just a "voice over" of the protagonist where he reveals himself at the last part of the picture. Still, I love the film for it has message to everyone. Even if the story is very light but obviously, it speaks for something and call for something (I want you to discover what it is).
The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep is a 2007 fantasy film directed by Jay Russell. The screenplay, written by screenwriter Robert Nelson Jacobs, is an adaption of Dick King-Smith's children's novel The Water Horse. It stars Alex Etel as a young boy who discovers a mysterious egg and cares for what hatches of it: a 'water horse' that becomes the fabled Loch Ness Monster. Emily Watson, Ben Chaplin and David Morrissey also star.
Walden Media, in collaboration with Beacon Pictures and Revolution Studios produced the film. Visual effects, which included the computer-generated imagery of the monster (named "Crusoe" by Etel's character) were completed by the New Zealand-based companies Weta Digital and Weta Workshop — visual effects companies who worked with Walden Media before on the productions of The Chronicles of Narnia films. The Water Horse was released in the United States on December 25, 2007 and in the United Kingdom on February 8, 2008.

[postlink]http://beyondfilms.blogspot.com/2008/04/are-sur-of-your-eye.html[/postlink]It scares me not but it inspires me much! For how many days of abusing my self for the school's tasks, just this night I watched "THE EYE" starring Jessica Alba. It was not my plan but I have to break and have time for me to rest. Watching movies is one of my unwinding session. "THE EYE" did not scare me because it needs to establish something before scaring the audience. Jessica Alba plays a role of a blind who is dreaming to see the world which drives her sister to put Jess in a surgery. Unfortunately the donor of the eye has strange past which makes Jess life miserable. She sees things that a normal person shouldn't see it is because Ella (donor) had been suffering it before she died. There are lots of twist of elements and situation in the story that made the ending so satisfying. I will tell you, the screenplay is good, the story line is professional but it doesn't scare you! It is a story of how to continue a unfinished business of a soul before leaving the world. It has a strong virtue! That makes the film noteworthy! Really cool!

Are sure of your eyes?

[postlink]http://beyondfilms.blogspot.com/2007/11/resiklo-mmff-best-picture.html[/postlink]There never was a moment that this kind of film will reign over those BIG FILMS for this Metro Manila Film Fest because as far as I know, films that have values (culture, community, family etc) are usually awarded as Best picture. This full of computer generated images film "Resiklo" is a fictional with a lot visual effects that would really entertain spectators eyes. I was just curious what happen to the screenpaly of Sakal Sakali Saklolo? Well, promotion wise, SSS had successfully reach the people since ABS-CBN owns Star Cinema. ( Akala ko SSS nga again ang mag best picture ) Things change! ohhh
